LezDance offers two levels of classes:
Beginners is for those who have little or no experience with ballroom dancing, or who want a refresher course.
Beyond Beginners is for those with more ballroom dance experience.
Classes are taught by a professional dance instructor.
Cost is $60-80 per session and partial scholarships are available.
Things you need to know:
1) No dance partner needed. There will be opportunity to dance with a variety of women.
2) Dance Shoes: It is important to wear shoes that are non-marking on the dance floor. You will need a pair of soft and smooth-soled shoes. Any leather or suede-soled shoes will do the job (some women have started in just socks). We recommend bringing a pair of shoes that are used only for dancing.
3) Shoes to Avoid: “Street” shoes bring in even the tiniest little rocks on the soles and damage the dance floor. Shoes to avoid, if possible, are shoes with sharp stiletto heels or rubber-soled shoes. In order to protect the surface of the dance floor, please be sure to clean off the soles of your shoes.
4) Bring water.
5) Wear layers of comfortable clothing. The dance studio can feel a little chilly at the beginning of class, but it gets comfortable, even steamy, once we are dancing!
6) Dance Floor Etiquette: When learning new moves or new a dance, keep to the middle or inside lane so so that those who are dancing do not run into you and have room to dance.
